How We Review
Our process for researching and ranking products, and how the site is funded.
Our process
- Pick the right criteria. For each category we decide what matters most to buyers, such as filtration standards for water filters, adjustability for posture devices, or uptime and renewal pricing for web hosting.
- Gather the facts. We review manufacturer specifications, certifications, published test results, warranty and return terms, pricing and customer reviews.
- Test where it counts. When we test products hands-on, we say so in the guide. When a ranking is based on published specs and research, we say that too.
- Compare side by side. We score each product against the same criteria and explain the trade-offs in plain language, including the downsides of our top picks.
- Keep it current. Prices and specs change. Each guide shows when it was last updated, and we revise guides when products change.
What we won't do
- Present a manufacturer's claim as our own finding without saying where it came from.
- Publish customer reviews or testimonials we've written ourselves.
- Hide that a page is sponsored or that we earn money from its links.
